Oddsmakers tap the Governor as having the sixth-best chance of winning the White House.

While Gov. Ron DeSantis is still considered a long shot in presidential betting markets, he’s no longer behind a former First Lady who is not an active candidate in 2024.

According to the aggregation site Election Betting Odds, DeSantis is back ahead of Michelle Obama, whom he fell behind earlier this month.

Obama exceeded 5% odds previously in October, with DeSantis at 3.5% at that point. But the Governor’s odds have risen to 3.7%, while Obama has fallen to 3.3%.

The good news notwithstanding, bettors and prediction market investors only see DeSantis as having the sixth-best chance of becoming President next year. And the Governor still trails one non-candidate according to the current odds.

Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a 4.1% chance of winning next year. DeSantis had previously teased involving him in a “task force” within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding COVID-19 mitigation. DeSantis also said there was “chatter” from some supporters about picking Kennedy as a running mate, though the Governor rejected that possibility.

For his part, Kennedy has never addressed whether he thinks DeSantis would be a good running mate for his ticket.

Former United Nations envoy Nikki Haley, at 4.3%, is considered the second-most likely Republican to win the White House. Haley and DeSantis have jousted about several issues this cycle, including who would be the toughest in opposing the resettlement of refugees from Gaza and the ethics of The Walt Disney Co.

Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a non-candidate, has a 6.7% chance of winning at this writing. Newsom and DeSantis are slated to debate on the Fox News Channel in November, an event framed as a contrast between liberal California and the conservative governance Floridians enjoy.

The odds-on favorites, unsurprisingly, are former President Donald Trump (35%) and current President Joe Biden (33.6%).

    Good afternoon America,
I was having dinner with the O’s the other night in The Hamptons and when he got up to go to the washroom she told me they have drifted and are becoming more and more like will & jada. And its been taking a toll on her consideration of breaking the glass ceiling.
I let my people in the betting oddsmaking business know so they wont loose any money on their wagering business. And that, America, is how the news got out – basically ending the fantasy of “M” being the next POTUS. Sorry American leftys its over.

So DeSantis was actually polling lower than “Michelle Obama” (I guess she’s this year’s “Pat Paulsen” – Google him if you don’t understand the reference 😉 LOL! Well I guess all this time that I’ve been saying he’s just wasting donors’ money making all these frivolous trips to the mid-west and whatnot I was in fact incorrect… he now polls ever so slightly ABOVE the non-contestant! Well good for him!!! But he’s probably still running behind Mickey Mouse so he’d better keep making those trips and shaking those paws…
