Ron DeSantis rips the conservative media that propelled him to a national level

DeSantis NYE 2023 (1)
The tables have turned for the Florida Governor at the worst possible time.

The narrative of the 2024 presidential campaign has officially gone full circle, with a candidate who enjoyed laudatory coverage for years now complaining about the right-wing press walking in lockstep against him.

In Urbandale, Iowa, Ron DeSantis offered yet another round of critiques of the conservative press, which he said is unwilling to question Donald Trump. While he didn’t call them “fake news” or a “racket” like he did Thursday on the trail, he did describe the conservative press as a “Praetorian Guard” protecting the former President.

“He’s got basically a Praetorian Guard of the conservative media, Fox News, the websites,” DeSantis claimed. “They don’t hold them accountable because they’re worried about losing viewers and they don’t want to have the ratings go down. And that’s just the reality, that’s just the truth, and I’m not complaining about it. I’d rather that not be the case, but that’s just, I think, an objective reality.”

DeSantis fretted about “conservative media” avoiding “big debates” about Anthony Fauci and his actions in 2020, or Trump’s proposal to “build a big, beautiful $1 billion-plus new headquarters for the FBI in the center of the swamp.”

“The sources that Republicans are now looking to more than any, are just not even engaging in any of this,” DeSantis lamented. “I think that a lot of it is, is rooted in audience and thinking that … you’ll lose audience. I don’t know. But the reality is, that’s just the case.”

The Governor said that while he’s made the case against Trump, “it’s different for me to just be doing that to a camera versus him being right there” in a debate, because mainstream media outlets “have to cover it and it becomes something that people start to talk about.”

“It’s different to just, to just lob it directly into the camera, it doesn’t get the same amount of legs,” said the man who spent years on conservative outlets conducting interviews heavy on hagiography and feather light on pushback.

DeSantis thinks it may hurt Trump “on the margins as this process goes on” to not engage Republican opponents. But in Iowa, the process is over Monday, and DeSantis is a distant second or third in polls.

Fox News rejected, via a spokesperson, the Governor’s claims.

“DeSantis has done multiple interviews with FOX News Channel this week including an hour-long town hall on Tuesday, Hannity on Thursday and Martha MacCallum & Laura Ingraham’s shows on Friday after the gaggle w/ reporters took place. He also has a scheduled appearance on FOX News Sunday w/ Shannon Bream this weekend. Not to mention he had a 90-minute primetime debate w/ Gavin Newsom 6 weeks ago on Hannity that garnered more than 5 million viewers and tons of buzz. All of this is worth noting, especially both appearances from yesterday, which were done shortly after he hit us.”

Right? If one loser whines in the forest and no one cares, did he whine?

If you prefer your media to be a stenographer for candidate DeSantis you should go to Fox “news.” Oh wait, they’re not even buying what Ronda’s peddling.

I’m pretty sure the anti-Desantis campaign is national and, apparently, not so much just democrats these days. He bought all this on himself but unlike Florida where he can bully his way through, on the national stage nobody likes him and nobody cares about his woke culture war BS.
I actually switched from unaffiliated to republican just to vote against him but that was a waste of time. I suspect he’ll spare himself the embarrassment of losing in his own state and drop out before then.

In side of a week, Desantis and his team will find themselves on the ass end of history, even if they squeeze out a second place win. And all the fanbuis and Xtina can “cry harder”.

Poor Rhonda thinks their fantasyland is “objective reality?”

Rhonda is cracking under the pressure of losing just like he was expected to lose by anyone and everyone that ever encountered him.

Rhonda must have believed the old stories that rumored them to be a promising hotshot. While Rhonda does sound good on paper, the “objective reality” is that Rhonda shows up and Everybody Hates Rhonda.

If he had any real, objective courage, Ronahh would show up at a Tramp rally and engage in the heckler’s veto! Call Tramp out for his many failures and his treasonous behavior. Alas, Ronahh will have lots of time to visit Tramp in prison and he can debate him in the visitors room. Fox is not news, it’s entertainment- just ask Fox’ lawyers.
