The State Attorney’s Office serving Florida’s 4th Judicial Circuit has been ordered to pay about $26,000 in attorney’s fees and court costs after failing to provide public records to a citizen in a reasonable amount of time.
Circuit Judge James Daniel issued the ruling Wednesday in Jacksonville.
The Florida Times-Union reports Curt Lee sued State Attorney Angela Corey in 2012 after he didn’t receive records related to an investigation of Jacksonville’s police and fire pension fund.
A judge agreed with Lee in August and ordered the office to provide the records. A December hearing on attorney’s fees was delayed.
Daniel ordered the office to pay attorney Brooks Rathet $21,850 and an additional $4,000 in costs.
A spokeswoman told the newspaper the office likely won’t appeal the ruling.
