Florida’s newest Senator isn’t upset by the Chinese government warning its citizens not to go to the United States.

U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody believes it’s more evidence that the tough approach of the Donald Trump administration is working, and said it’s just as well, since she’s concerned that Chinese tourists are spies for Beijing.

“President Trump came in and said to all of the leaders that he was assembling on this dynamic team, the U.S., we are suckers no more,” Moody said on “Fox & Friends First.”

The language from China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism made no reference to the dynamic team.

“Due to the deterioration of Sino-US economic and trade relations and the domestic security situation in the United States, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds Chinese tourists to fully assess the risks of travelling to the United States and travel with caution,” the ministry said.

The Education Ministry also urged students to “conduct risk safety assessments.”

However, Moody believes the Chinese travelers pose a risk to the U.S.

“They’re not hiding the fact that they are enlisting students to come over here and be espionage agents. In fact, they passed laws requiring Chinese nationals to participate in intelligence gathering, and since then we have seen an explosion in those students here on visas sneaking onto military bases, stealing information,” Moody said.

“So as soon as those laws were passed in China, if we were smart, we would have passed laws here stopping any visas going to Chinese nationals because we don’t want to import hate, we cannot import espionage agents that are going to steal our military secrets or intelligence. And so this is such a sign that we are getting back on the right course.”

More than 1.6 million Chinese nationals came to the United States last year. The high point was in 2017, when more than 3.1 million made the trip. COVID limited travel from China, but it has rebounded in recent years.

Canada has issued similar warnings to its citizens who are considering travel to the USA. Can’t wait to see how the international soccer players and fans are treated at the US border during upcoming World Cup competitions.

Ok, I’ll bite.. how many Chinese students have been arrested and tried for espionage on US military bases?
How many are we bringing over on those special visas to work in our tech industries? No concern about what they are up to there? Ashley, does your xenophobia extend to all Asians or just Chinese? Come on girl, we can’t bring down the iron curtain on students just because they were born in a certain country we don’t like right now..

Works for me: PRC tourists come to Disney World, then pop over to government locations to do a bit of spying before leaving. Travel and etc. can be written off as a state expense.

Another paranoid ultra-nationalist super-patriot as a Florida Senator ??? What a twit. Worry about something that matters!

Does Moody have experience/information in this area? Is she, like all Trumpies, projecting? The inference is that all U.S. students that travel abroad for educational opportunities should be treated as spies by the countries to which they travel. Not a good look.
