The Campaign of Jacksonville Mayoral Candidate Lenny Curry announced plans for his “Duval Door Brawl” event earlier this week, an event described by Campaign Manager Brian Swensen as follows:
“The rules are simple: organize a group and start knocking doors. Whichever group can walk the most doors in one day will win a VIP invite for a personal meeting with a soon-to-be-announced national figure,” reads the email.
“Sign up to volunteer now so you can be prepared for Saturday,” the email continues. “Make an additional comment that you want to be a leader in the Duval Door Brawl, and we’ll send you further instructions for how to participate in the competition. ”
Today, the Curry campaign announced, via an email to its supporters, that “at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Florida CFO Jeff Atwater will be hosting a kick-off rally for the Duval Door Brawl at Curry Campaign Headquarters.”
The email goes on to say that “Jeff Atwater is one of our state’s finest leaders, and while I am honored to have his endorsement in this campaign, I’m even more excited to have him join us for our special event. This is Jacksonville’s time to show how when we put our minds to something, we can achieve anything.”
The Curry campaign has prioritized one on one contact with voters, and this event clearly gives them added incentive to show up and do work for their candidate, who faces an Alvin Brown Campaign that is just starting to ramp up, with former President Bill Clinton in town today at noon for a big ticket fundraiser event at EverBank Field.
