We are now 13 days away from the Duval County Unitary Election, which will decide some of the City Council races outright. But not every race will be decided. With that in mind, the Jacksonville Public Library has announced plans for multi-location candidate debates on the evening of April 20th.
The debates, sponsored by the Jacksonville Public Library Board of Library Trustees and the League of Women Voters of Jacksonville First Coast, will be moderated by local luminaries, including Frank Denton, the editor of the Florida Times-Union, and Melissa Ross, who writes for this site and hosts the critically-acclaimed First Coast Connect program on WJCT-FM.
There are four concurrent debates scheduled. Districts 7, 8, and 10 will have their debate at the Olga Bradham and Etta Brooks Branch Library at 1755 Edgewood Avenue West. At-Large District 2 and Districts 1 and 2 will debate at the Regency Square Branch Library, located at 9900 Regency Square Blvd.
At-Large District 3 and District 4 aspirants will be featured at the Southeast Regional Library, located at 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd. And candidates from At-Large Districts 1 and 5 and District 1 will face off at the The Main Library at 303 N. Laura Street.
