Two new political ads from the Seminole Tribe of Florida again call on state lawmakers to renew a key provision of the 2009 gambling agreement set to expire July 31.
The ads arrive as Florida considers the future of gaming in Florida, including the renewal of The Seminole Compact, the agreement giving the Tribe exclusive rights to operate blackjack and other card games at five of its seven Florida casinos outside of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
The Tribe is pushing for renewal, a deal that provides about $234 million a year in revenue to the state.
A 30-second television ad and a 60-second radio ad began running in Tallahassee on Thursday, to be followed by other media markets across the state.
The TV spot highlights testimony at a House Regulated Industries gaming workshop last month. Florida Chamber of Commerce President Mark Wilson and Amy Baker, chief economist for the Florida Legislature, each discussed the Tribe’s gambling revenue and its positive benefits on the state economy.
“Beyond Expectations” is the radio ad reporting on benefits of the Compact — nearly $1 billion over five years — used to fund education projects, support services and gaming control.
Both ads are available on YouTube; the radio ad is here, the TV spot is here.
