Team Rubio not impressed by Hillary Clinton’s soft opening

The political media world was abuzz about Hillary Clinton’s expected announcement on Sunday that she would be declaring her candidacy for president.

CNN even had foreign policy maven Fareed Zakaria broadcast live on his Fareed Zakaria GPS program, with a graphic on the side of the screen with the words, “Awaiting Hilary Clinton announcement.”

But the Rubio camp indicated that they weren’t breathlessly awaiting the announcement.

“We like the contrast between Hillary Clinton’s virtual announcement and Marco Rubio’s real announcement,” spokesman Alex Conant told the Tampa Bay Times. “Marco will offer an optimistic vision for a new American century. He will offer new ideas for the new challenges facing our nation in the 21st century. The contrast between Marco’s new generation ideas and Hillary Clinton’s outdated policies will be clear. If people want to see something new, they should tune in Monday evening.”

Rubio will be announcing his candidacy for president Monday afternoon from Victory Tour in Miami.

Conan confirmed to CNN’s Brian Stelter today that Rubio will be giving an exclusive interview with ABC News George  Stephanopoulos before the speech, and with Fox News’ Sean  Hannity afterwards. On Tuesday, he’ll be interviewed on NPR.

As of now, Clinton has no interviews scheduled after her announcement today.
