Watch here — Molly Curry TV spot: “Setting the Record Straight”

Lenny Curry family

The first Lenny Curry television ad of the runoff election is a strong piece of narrative; a 30 second spot laden with positive messaging, which features Lenny’s wife, Molly.

She has been an asset to him in life, in politics, and now during the campaign, where she has been extraordinarily effective as a spokeswoman for her husband’s values and priorities, including at the jam-packed Women’s Coalition Luncheon this year. Curry’s spokesman Brian Hughes tells us that Molly Curry’s appearance in the current ad is purposeful, intended as a response to a controversial negative television ad that was in heavy rotation last month in the Jacksonville television market.

“After Democrat Alvin Brown included Molly in his attack ad during the first election, Molly vowed to set the record straight about Lenny,” Hughes said.

“Molly and Lenny have built a business, and like others all over Jacksonville they are focused on the city the next generation will inherit. In the spot, Molly is giving voice to what men and women all over Jacksonville already know; the city needs a leader with integrity and a plan to restore Jacksonville’s greatness,” Hughes said.

Indeed, in this ad, she said, “Lenny has always kept his promises and he will get the job done.”

The ad gives Jacksonville viewers a snapshot of the idyllic family dynamic the Curry family has, showing Lenny and a daughter at breakfast, before segueing into Lenny helping his son put on his shoulder pads and coaching his youth football team. From there, we see Curry pushing his children on the swings before a shot of one of Curry’s daughters chasing a hen around their backyard.

Meanwhile, we see Molly providing narration from one of Jacksonville’s many beautiful parks; this one appears to be in the Avondale area. Molly tells viewers that her husband would “make keeping our streets safe his No. 1 priority.”

“Like you, I want Jacksonville to be a safe place to live in and to raise a family,” Molly Curry says, adding that “as mayor, my husband will invest in neighborhood programs to give young people hope and opportunity.”
