Jeb Bush alumni invited to pre-announcement reception

Now that the cat is (almost) out of the bag, Jeb Bush wants to celebrate his big announcement with some of the people who helped him get there.

And if by “there,” he possibly means the increasingly crowded 2016 GOP presidential race, nearly six months after he “actively” began exploring a White House run.

In an email invite obtained by Marc Caputo of POLITICO, alumni of the former Florida governor’s political career are invited to a pre-announcement reception in Miami on June 15. The event is from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College; the announcement is scheduled for 3 p.m.

“Gov. Bush is thankful for the support and encouragement he has received from so many Americans during the last several months and looks forward to announcing his decision,” Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell said in a prepared statement.

If he does enter the race, candidate Bush will be able to end the verbal gymnastics over his looming campaign. Last month, he was caught on video telling TV reporters in Reno, Nev. that he was “running for president in 2016,” just before walking back the misstatement.  “No, no I’m not an official candidate,” Bush said later.

Text of the invite, coming from staff member Karen Unger – email [email protected] — is here:

On Monday, June 15 Governor Bush will be making a big announcement in Miami. The Governor wants to share this special day with the team that has always been there for him, from the committed crews that led his gubernatorial campaigns to the members of his administration who helped reform government as we knew it in the State of Florida.

Governor and Mrs. Bush would be honored to have you join their family for an intimate reception for Jeb Alumni prior to the big announcement. The private reception will be held at the Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus Cafeteria from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m.

Doors will open for this reception by 1:30 p.m., and we encourage you to arrive early.

Due to limited space, this individual invitation is specific to you and is non-transferrable. Following the reception, the Governor will make his announcement at 3:00 p.m. in the adjacent Theodore R. Gibson Health Center (Gymnasium). Reserved Jeb Alumni seating will be available, and we welcome your immediate family to join you in the Gibson Center following the reception for the Governor’s announcement.

Please RSVP for the Jeb Alumni reception via Eventbrite at: JebAnnouncement.Eventbrite.com.

Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you in Miami on June 15!
