On Thursday, the Florida Chamber of Commerce named First Commerce Credit Union President John Medina as Regional Board Chair for the Tallahassee area.
Medina, who leads the First Commerce Investments and Insurance Division, will have a one-year term as one of 12 individuals in the Regional Chair Program.
“Tallahassee is the center of all legislative decisions that keep Florida moving in the right direction,” Medina said in a prepared statement. “First Commerce Credit Union is proud to support the Florida Chamber in their efforts to keep moving Florida forward.”
Medina was appointed by Chamber Chair Steve Knopik, president and CEO of Bealls, Inc., to work with the region’s business and legislative leaders to promote a competitive business environment.
“John Medina is a prime example of how small businesses are the source of 2 out of 3 jobs in Florida, and why fighting for free enterprise is so important,” Chamber CEO Mark Wilson said. “In his role as a Florida Chamber Regional Board Chair, John will champion the Florida Chamber’s mission to secure Florida’s future.”
Medina is also president of Medina Consultants. Until 2011, he was the owner and chairman of Greenways of America, a landscape and irrigation contracting company.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1916, is considered the voice of business and is the state’s largest federation of employers, chambers of commerce and business associations.
