Hillary Clinton has yet to make her first visit to the Tampa Bay area as a 2016 presidential candidate, but Robby Mook, her campaign manager, will visit Tampa later this month.
Mook will speak at a Hillary for America event 5 to 7 p.m. June 29 at a location to be when “guests” RSVP the event.
It won’t cost much to attend. Only $25 will get you in as a “guest”; $250 will get you in as a “co-host,” and for $500 you can be listed as a “host” for the event.
Clinton came to South Florida for two fundraisers last month, holding events in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Although she officially became a candidate for the Democratic nomination in April, she held a second launch Saturday at New York City’s Roosevelt Island.
The 35-year-old Mook helped lead Terry McAuliffe to victory in the race for governor in Virginia in 2013.
Wadi Gaitan, communications director of the Republican Party of Florida, criticized Mook’s visit by blasting Clinton for not making a public appearance in Florida since announcing her presidential run in April.
“It is sad that after only attending closed-door, expensive fundraisers during on her last visit to Florida,” Gaitan said in an email, “Hillary is now completely skipping our state.
“By continuing to ignore the general public and the media with zero access, Hillary is further showing why Florida voters find her untrustworthy and out-of-touch.”
