Independence Day is a time for celebration and reflection for all Americans. For the Winn-Dixie grocery chain, it is also a time for giving back.
On Saturday morning at the Winn-Dixie Lakewood location, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry met with Southeastern Grocers CEO and President Ian McLeod and Steven Nardizzi, CEO of Wounded Warrior Project, to celebrate Winn Dixie’s donation of all July 4th profits to Wounded Warrior Project.
“Winn Dixie and Wounded Warrior Project are important to Jacksonville, and they are teaming up to provide much needed support to the women and men who have given so much of themselves to guarantee our freedom. I am proud to support this fine effort,” said Mayor Curry. “I’ve said it before: we are a caring, compassionate, and loving people. Jacksonville’s veterans are an important part of the fabric that makes up the city’s rich tapestry,” Mayor Curry added.
Wounded Warrior Project describes itself as “a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, service and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of September 11, 2001.”
