U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson is in the Senate race. That’s causing consternation for the Patrick Murphy side, which sent out a fundraising email Thursday afternoon that read:
“By now you’ve heard the news. The race has changed. I now have a primary opponent. The next few months are going to be challenging, and I know that the campaign that we’ve built together is going to be put to the test.”
While the Murphy side is gearing up for a battle against a man who gives the best soundbites in Florida politics, who can say what he wants with impunity in a way not seen since the glory days of James Traficant, Republicans are just getting their popcorn ready, and trolling Grayson as he forces Murphy into an extended primary.
“I welcome Congressman Grayson to Florida’s Senate race. Alan is a true liberal who combines inflammatory rhetoric with militant leftism,” said Ron DeSantis in a statement. “Alan Grayson says his Senate campaign will ‘live to the end of time,’ but I imagine that Florida voters will be so dissatisfied with his history of supporting tax stiff hikes (sic), ObamaCare and cuts to our military, that Alan’s campaign will, in his own words, ‘die quickly.'”
July in Florida. The weather has heated up. And now, so too the Senate race.
