Gov. Rick Scott said Tuesday the opening of a new Accusoft headquarters will bring about 125 new jobs to the Tampa Bay area.

According to a release from the governor’s office, Accusoft, a “global provider of document, content and imaging solutions,” will expand its base of operations in Tampa, where the company was founded in 1991 under the moniker Pegasus Imaging Corp.

Scott said in a prepared statement the move is in keeping with his employment-centric mission as governor.

“Each job that is created in our state helps a family put food on the table, pay their rent, and provide for their children,” Scott said. “Even though Florida has created almost 880,000 private sector jobs in four and half years, we won’t stop working until Florida is the global destination for jobs.”

Enterprise Florida CEO Bill Johnson also chimed in to applaud the move.

“Congratulations to Accusoft on this expansion,” Johnson said  Tuesday. “It’s great to see companies like Accusoft – partners in our communities for nearly a quarter-century – finding the resources they need for continued success and growth in the IT industry here in Florida.”

Not to be left out of the action in his adopted hometown, Tampa Mayor and possible 2018 gubernatorial candidate Bob Buckhorn added his voice to the chorus of praise for the digital imaging company as well.

“[Accusoft] chose to stay here, helped create this city’s booming technology sector, and proved that companies like theirs can attract the best software developers and engineers to Tampa,”  Buckhorn said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited about what the future holds for Accusoft and thank them for creating more excellent jobs for our community.”

The expansion of jobs will also come along with a $5.25 million capital investment on the part of the firm, which employs 120 Floridians, many in STEM-related jobs.

The moves are set to be finalized by 2019.
