Donald Trump leads the Republican presidential field in a new Fox News poll released on Friday morning with 18 percent support. The businessman/celebrity’s rise has been dramatic: He’s up seven percentage points since last month and up 14 points since May.
Scott Walker is second with 15 percent, followed closely by Jeb Bush at 14 percent.
In fourth place is Rand Paul at 8 percent, Marco Rubio at 7 percent, Ben Carson at 6 percent, Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee at 4 percent, Chris Christie at 3 percent, John Kasich and Rick Santorum at 2 percent, Carly Fiorina and Rick Perry are at 1 percent.
Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal and George Pataki have no support in the poll.
Walker definitely got a bump in the poll from his announcement on Monday night that he’s now an official candidate in the race. He’s up 6 points since he officially began his campaign. That bump gets him back to the support he was receiving earlier this year. In March, he was also at 15 percent.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton captures 59 percent among Democratic primary voters compared with 19 percent for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The Fox News Poll was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). The poll was conducted by telephone with live interviewers July 13 to 15, 2015 among a random national sample of 1,019 registered voters (RV). Results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.
