Florida State Sen. Jack Latavla‘s PAC, the Florida Leadership Committee, has raised a little more than $3.5 million in less than two years of existence. On Aug. 13, the powerful Largo-based PAC is poised to add to that tidy sum,via a fundraiser in Ponte Vedra Beach, a Jacksonville bedroom community that is a day’s drive away from Latavla’s district in northern St. Petersburg.
The cocktail reception is hosted by Jerome Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Laubacker, and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Davis at Fletcher’s home in tony Marsh Landing. Catering will be provided by the well-regarded Jacksonville gourmand, Liz Grenmeyer.
The Florida Leadership Committee has left a light footprint in terms of political contributions in North Florida politics. The group gave $1,000 to the Lenny Curry campaign in January before the First Election and in May in time for the runoff election between Curry and Alvin Brown. It also gave $1,000 to Cyndi Stevenson‘s campaign for the Florida House in December.
Additionally, the group gave $2,500 to Our Time Is Now, a Jacksonville political organization in 2014, and $500 to the Florida Federation of Republican Women for advertising in 2013. The latter sum was the group’s third expenditure.
