Gov. Scott announces seven new state board appointments

Gov. Rick Scott announced five new appointments and two reappointments on Friday to a variety of statewide regulatory boards.

Northwest Florida Transportation Corridor Authority

Scott began by announcing one appointment and two reappointments to the Northwest Florida Transportation Corridor Authority. NFTCA works to improve mobility, enhance traveler safety, provide for hurricane evacuation routes, and promote economic development in northwest Florida.

Peter Bos, 68, of Destin, is the chair and chief executive officer of Legendary LLC. He currently serves on the Gulf Consortium. Bos fills a vacant for a term August 10, 2017.

James “Jim” Anders, 64, of Seacrest, is the owner of Anders Real Estate and Timber Co. He previously served on the First Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Anders is reappointed for a term ending August 10, 2017.

James “Carey” Scott, 56, of Panama City, is a local restaurateur who previously served as a member of the Fourteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission and as the chair of the Panama City Planning Board. Scott is reappointed for a term ending August 10, 2017.

Northwest Florida Water Management District

Scott then named Ted Everett to the Northwest Florida Water Management District.

Everett, 54, of Chipley, is executive director of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the owner and operator of Hard Labor Creek Hunting Plantation and Hard Labor Creek Off Road Park. He currently serves as the secretary of Opportunity Florida and a member of the Florida Economic Development Council and Florida Association of Chamber Professionals. Everett fills a vacant for a term ending March 1, 2017.

Everett’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

University of Central Florida Board of Trustees

Scott named Joseph Conte and Bill Yeargin to the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees.

Conte, 58, of Winter Park, is president and chief executive officer of Consulate Health Care. Previously, he was a co-founder, president, and chief operating officer of Tandem Health Care from 1998 to 2006. Conte succeeds James Atchison for a term ending January 6, 2020.

Yeargin, 54, of Chuluota, is president and chief executive officer of Correct Craft Inc. He previously served on the Palm Beach Atlantic University Board of Trustees, the Advisory Board of Grace College, and currently serves on the United States Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council. Yeargin succeeds Richard Crotty for a term ending January 6, 2020.

Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council

Lastly, Scott appointed Robert Carlton to the Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council. The Council works with manufacturers and contractors to plan and conduct training programs, improve access to masonry education, develop outreach programs, and inform the public about the sustainability and economic benefits of concrete masonry products.

Carlton, 42, of Saint Augustine, is general manager of Carlton Walker Masonry Inc. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending June 30, 2016.
