Former commissioner Grant Maloy announces candidacy for Seminole Clerk of Courts

SeminoleCounty

Former Seminole County Commissioner Grant Maloy said Tuesday afternoon that he’s filed to run for Seminole County Clerk of Courts in 2016. Maloy said he wants to bring his combination of experience in the private and public sector to the office.

“As clerk, my focus will be to ensure that our tax dollars are being spent properly and that the court system serves the citizens like they are valued customers.” Maloy said in a prepared statement to FloridaPolitics.com. “I want to implement new technologies and ideas to better serve the people and reduce the costs of government.”

Maloy is the only candidate who has filed for the race. It’s unclear whether incumbent Maryanne Morse will file for re-election.

Grant grew up in Seminole County, and is a graduate of Lake Howell High School and the University of Florida. He owns and operates Gabriella Growers, a wholesale tropical foliage nursery. He is married with three children.
