Wednesday was a busy day for state Sen. Joe Negron.
The Treasure Coast Republican started off Hump Day by all-but-declaring victory in the race to be president of the Florida Senate, releasing the names of his 13 senatorial colleagues who back his bid to lead the chamber in 2016-18.
Just hours later, Negron’s political committee, the Treasure Coast Alliance invited lobbyists and prominent donors to a fundraising getaway at The Brazilian Court, the landmark hotel in Palm Beach.
The two-day affair includes a reception and VIP dinner on Monday and concludes with a golf scramble and spa retreat the next day.
Because what’s more important after struggling through 18 holes than treating yourself to a mani-pedi?
Donating to the Treasure Coast Alliance, that’s what!
To recap what happened yesterday: for breakfast, Negron positioned himself as the next Senate President; for lunch, he invited the lobby corps to a two-day fundraising vacation.
That’s about as subtle as an alarm clock.
