Nonprofit group Take Stock in Children said Wednesday its has selected its next leader: business and public relations consultant Jillian Hasner.
The program mentors at-risk children throughout Florida to guide them toward graduation from high school and help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty many low-income students struggle to transcend.
Hasner – wife of former congressional candidate and state Rep. Adam Hasner, who like his spouse remains active in Florida politics – comes to the new job by after about five years at the helm of Revolution 537, a Boca Raton-based fundraising and PR consultancy.
Ted Carter, the chairman of TSIC’s board said that experience combined with her larger public policy background makes her an apt choice.
“Hasner is an experienced leader with a proven track record of delivering results for Florida’s corporate, government and non-profit leaders and is perfect to build upon the organization’s success,” said Carter in a news release.
The statewide group serves about 8,500 low-income and minority students, often mentoring them all the way through college. The nonprofit says the students under its tutelage boast a 96 percent high school graduation rate.
The new post is not the first time Hasner has been involved with TSIC: She once tutored children herself while working in the administration of Gov. Jeb Bush.
“I am proud to be joining such a dynamic organization that is on the forefront of making a difference in the lives of thousands of Florida students and families every year,” Hasner said Wednesday.
“This opportunity brings me full circle, since I served as a TSIC mentor in 1999 while working for the governor of Florida who was an early and strong advocate for the program.”

The organization that Ms. Hasner heads is slated to honor an alleged bully this Thursday. I find it very difficult to comprehend how/why Mrs. Hasner and this wonderful organization would chose to honor Roderick Beasley when the EEOC has found that he discriminates against women – especially educated ones. Please read the entire series of articles on Mr. Beasley’s patterns of behavior and reconsider honoring him. It would be a shame to see the reputation of this terrific effort potentially tarnished by such a person being given an award.
