Following in a tradition of Jacksonville mayors who embrace the Navy presence in the Bold New City of the South, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry has made it a priority to embrace local military early in his term.
That trend continues next week when Curry will videotape a brief cameo appearance in the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast 75th Historical Documentary, an internal production that likely won’t be on Netflix anytime soon, but is nonetheless a priority for those at the Fleet Readiness Center.
Curry has been asked, by a representative of the FRC, to say something like this:
Happy 75th Anniversary Fleet Readiness Center Southeast! I commend you on providing superb maintenance solutions to the fleet since 1940 when your facility stood up at Naval Air Station Jacksonville as the Assembly and Repair Department during World War II. As the largest industrial facility in Duval County and Northeast Florida, the city of Jacksonville is proud of this milestone and your achievements and we are honored that you are part of our community. Thank you for a job well done and for your contributions to ensuring the security of our nation.
This, along with some other videos, will be recorded in the week after Labor Day in City Hall.
