A wave of board appointments is coming from the Lenny Curry administration, in its continuing effort to determine the post-election composition of various boards.
At least one of these appointees offered Curry tangible support during the campaign, a condition that likely will irk those who have charged that these appointments are overtly politicized.
Marc Padgett, President of Summit Contracting Group, will be offered up for appointment to the Downtown Investment Authority, seemingly to replace the departed Melody Bishop.
Padgett hosted an event that raised over $100,000 for the Curry PAC, Together for a Greater Jacksonville, earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Bishop’s husband ran a third place mayoral campaign that didn’t raise much more money than that during its entire run.
Bill Bishop, of course, has declared his intentions to run for mayor again in four years.
Stewart Gallagher will be offered up for appointment to the Construction Trades Qualifying Board. Joshua Garrison and Lee Arsenault, meanwhile, look like they are headed to the Subdivision Standards and Policy Advisory Committee.
Meanwhile, there are reappointments in the works also.
Frederick Jones and Carol Worsham are slated for reappointment to the Downtown Development Review Board. Joni Poitier will be reappointed to the Civil Service Board. Rocelia Gonzalez, meanwhile, will remain on the Human Rights Commission.
