Prospective Jax Fire Prevention chief singed by Ashley Madison flame

Shhh! Discretion is the better part of valor, but the former allegedly was not practiced by Derrick Brinson, a 23-year JFRD veteran and Jacksonville native, whose name was up for fire prevention chief … but apparently won’t be now.

According to The Florida Times-Union, Brinson’s use of city computers and email is under review, after the leak of Ashley Madison data recently.

The city has just begun its investigation into this Friday afternoon news dump.

As with other areas of the country, a number of northeast Florida government employees have been caught in this particular honey trap.

An example: “Duval County Judge Waddel Wallace admitted on Tuesday that he accessed the site because he was curious. In a statement he said he never got on the site from a government email account, never had an affair, never released his identity to anyone and apologized to his wife.”

In legal terms, that qualifies as nolo contendre.
