Susannah Randolph, candidate for Florida’s 9th Congressional District, will hold a fundraiser in Sarasota this month with a host committee featuring St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman.
“Susannah Randolph has a strong record of fighting for Florida’s middle class, seniors, and the environment,” Kriseman says in the announcement. “I am proud to support her and Central Florida needs and deserves a fighter for fairness like her.”
In one of the most intriguing congressional primaries in the nation, Randolph is seeking to replace incumbent Alan Grayson, who is running for Marco Rubio‘s U.S. Senate seat. Randolph once worked as Grayson’s district director.
Other candidates in the Democratic primary include Grayson’s girlfriend, biochemist Dena Minning, state Sen. Darren Soto, former state Rep. Ricardo Rangel, and businesswoman Valleri Crabtree.
On the Republican side, Wayne Liebnitzsky has filed.
The left-leaning 9th District consists of parts of Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties. The winner of the Democratic primary will most likely be favored in the 2016 general election .
