Mystery video slams “Party Boss Lenny Curry” for “cronyism”
Mystery video slams Lenny Curry for Board moves.

As the question of whether or not Jax Planning Commission Chair-Elect Lisa King will get removed from her position or not percolates, an unknown group called “OurCity OneJax” has began distributing a video slamming “Party Boss” Lenny Curry for cronyism.

After having “promised to unite the city” in his inaugural address, the OurCity OneJax video charges that “demanding the resignation of Planning Commissioners” King and Joey McKinnon and “replacing them with Republican donors” constitutes “cronyism.”

“Cronyism. It’s what Party Bosses do. Tell your Councilperson to stand up to Boss Curry,” the stentorian call to action to the 30 second spot says.

The Party Boss meme, of course, was a poll-tested trope in the messaging of the latter days of the Alvin Brown campaign.

It may be too late for at least one Democratic Councilperson. District 9 Democrat Garrett Dennis preemptively broke with party orthodoxy on Thursday, saying that while the removals are “unfortunate” for those impacted, part of the “spoils of campaigning” entitles the mayor to handle appointments and removals as he sees fit.

Florida Politics is investigating who this group might be, and will follow up as new information surfaces. There is no record of them in the Supervisor of Elections database.
