Longtime Fort Myers business owner Tommy Doyle officially filed campaign paperwork today for his bid to become Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
Born and raised in Lee County, Doyle’s company — Flint and Doyle Structural Movers — has been part of the local community for nearly 70 years. Incumbent Supervisor Sharon Harrington is seeking re-election, and four other candidates have filed for the nonpartisan race.
“The Supervisor of Election is entrusted with the most important part of democracy – your right to vote. This process must be done right,” Doyle said in a statement. “Ballots, polling places, poll workers, voting machines, vote security and integrity are all essential to a successful election. I will instill excellence for each and every piece of the election process.”
Doyle credits his business success to focusing on “excellent customer service, scrutinize over every dollar and embrace innovation in everything we do.” He believes the Supervisor of Elections office should keep the same standards. Doyle’s platform includes increasing voter participation rates among young people, integration of technology in the election process and a renewed commitment to better customer service and stronger business practices.
“When a ballot is cast in Lee County, every voter should have the confidence that their vote is safe and secure at every point in the process and that your tax dollars were spent wisely. I believe these are the key responsibilities for the Supervisor of Elections,” Doyle concluded. “That’s why I am running and that’s exactly what I plan to do.”
