Mayors Buddy Dyer of Orlando and Teresa Jacobs of Orange County are heading to Washington D.C on Wednesday to promote the region as part of the “Orlando. You don’t know the the half of it.” initiative.
Both mayors will meet with members of Florida’s congressional delegation, as well as other federal officials, to discuss the region’s growing modeling and simulation industry. On the agenda is a Capitol tour with Congressman John Mica, and a private luncheon with Sen. Bill Nelson.
Sponsoring the trip is the Central Florida Partnership, which is also working to arrange a meeting with Secretary of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx.
Other elected officials included in the visit are Osceola County Commissioner Cheryl Grieb, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn, and Orange County School Board Member Pam Gould. Over 40 leaders from the local business community are also part of the delegation,
Earlier this year, Dyer and Jacobs promoted the region in New York City, where the pair appeared on several nationally broadcast business programs.
