Emails from city officials indicate that the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund board knew the forensic audit was complete on Tuesday, making their silence on the matter notable in consideration of that fact.
“The media has reported that the forensic audit is complete and that you have scheduled a news conference for 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. The Police & Fire Pension Fund (PFPF) board of trustees is interested in the findings of the audit to see if there are any improvements that can be made,” wrote PFPF Chairman Lawrence Schmitt.
Then he asked: “Can you please send a copy of the report to the PFPF?”
“In addition, would you and auditor Ted Siedle be able to set aside some time (after your press conference of course) to meet with any available PFPF Trustees? It may also be beneficial to invite City Treasurer Joey Grieve (the city treasurer is also the treasurer of the PFPF and General Employee Pension Plan), PFPF Controller Devin Carter, former PFPF Controller Kevin Stork (Stork now works for the city), Council Auditor Kirk Sherman, city Finance Director Mike Weinstien[SIC] and Chief Administrative Officer Sam Mousa to go over the report in depth,” Schmitt continued.
Gulliford responded that copies of the report were to be available at the news conference, and that a copy was to be forwarded to Schmitt Wednesday.
There will be two public notice meetings on Monday about the PFPF audit, in addition to a Finance Committee meeting, chaired by Gulliford, where this likely will come up.
Presumably, then there will be comment rendered by all parties.
