Another horrifying mass murder happened on Wednesday in America; this one, which qualifies as domestic terrorism, in San Bernardino.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and Sheriff Mike Williams addressed it in a statement Thursday afternoon.

“On behalf of the citizens of Jacksonville,” the joint statement from the Mayor’s office reads, “we extend our condolences and prayers to the citizens and loved ones of those injured and killed in San Bernardino, California yesterday.”

“The Sheriff and I continue to meet weekly to discuss and evaluate the safety needs of Jacksonville citizens. In fact,” Curry adds, “we just participated in an intelligence briefing with our security teams less than 24 hours prior to the California incident.  This is the type of collaboration and communications we commit to that strengthen and bolster our knowledge, training and preparedness.”

The statement urges that Jacksonville residents “remain vigilant and aware of surroundings and report any activity that appears threatening to the safety and security of citizens and communities.”

The two men, elected in May, have presented a united front on security issues since their inauguration in July, and this firm response to domestic terror in San Bernardino is another example thereof.
