The fundraising race in House District 11 is getting more interesting every month.
Moderate Republican Donnie Horner, who started strong, raised less than $4,000 in November, bringing his total raised up to $84,400, leaving him with just under $73,000 cash on hand.
Meanwhile, Sheri Treadwell, who has called herself the “most conservative candidate in this race,” pulled in $9,225 in November, bringing her total raised over the $60,000 mark, with just $6,742 spent (and a bit over $2,300 of it in November).
The bulk of Treadwell’s money came in $500 and $1,000 chunks, lending credence to the narrative that the moneyed people on the hard right may coalesce behind Treadwell as the conservative alternative to Horner.
Treadwell’s spent $1,000 on Cindy Burgin for consulting, and over $1,300 to WebElect.net.
Though for now, HD 11 is a two-person race in terms of fundraising, the other four candidates bear watching, especially Cord Byrd. Her November haul of $2,605 included $1,000 from Building a Better Florida, a Michael Corcoran PAC out of Tampa.
Byrd, meanwhile, spent $3,617 in November, all with the Whitson Group for “consulting/mail/campaign software.”
Byrd spent $6,216 with Zach Whitson‘s Whitson Group and associated companies in October.
Byrd has under $16,000 cash on hand.
The vanity campaign of perpetual long-shot Jack Daniels continues on the strength of personal loans. He has yet to raise any money, and if previous races are any indication, he’s sticking around to sell his “endorsement.”
As Lisa King, who ran against Daniels, said this year: “Jack Daniels is a character out of central casting – a grifter always looking for his next mark. … Jack’s had at least seven failed candidacies in districts all over the city. He flouted the law in those runs, unless of course you define an RV as a residence. Jack touts himself as a businessman but is behind on his property taxes. It looks like he found his newest mark in Al Ferraro. Jack wanted $5,000 from me for his endorsement; I hope Al got a better deal.”
Bryceville’s Barry Holloway raised just $500 in November, while spending $1,000 with Dixie Strategies.
Jacksonville Beach’s Tom Taylor performed modestly as well, raising just $1,000.
The real question going forward is whether Byrd is part of that top tier with Treadwell and Horner.
