Internal city of Jacksonville emails reveal that the Candy Apple Café, located across the street from City Hall, seeks to bag parking meters during peak hours.

The issue, says Jennifer Earnest of the café, is one of capacity.

“Is there any opportunity that we could bag the meters across from our building to create a space for cars being dropped off to wait until Valet can get them to the garage? Or, do you have any other suggestions? Understandably, JSO is getting upset with us for blocking the lane closest to our building on Hogan. We are trying to find a solution that is cost effective for us and allows us to continue with valet, but that also ensures we are not a traffic nuisance,” Earnest writes in an email to city officials.

Expect meetings between the café and city officials in the new year to devise a workable solution.

The Hogan Street location is a popular drop-in spot for city employees and those who might want to see them.
