Super PAC backing Marco Rubio raised more than $14 million in 2nd half of 2015

The super PAC backing presidential hopeful Marco Rubio raised more than $30 million in 2015.

Conservative Solutions PAC, the super PAC supporting Rubio, reported it raised $14.4 million in the second part of the year. The organization raised more than $30 million in 2015, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission on Sunday.

The group reported it had $13.9 million in the bank at the end of 2015.

Top donors this cycle included a $2.5 million donation Paul Singer, a billionaire hedge fund manager from New York. The Associated Press reported that in October, Singer wrote a letter to his friends encouraging them to support Rubio in the primary.

Ken Griffin, a Chicago-based investor, also gave the group $2.5 million.

Closer to home, Norman Braman, a long-time Rubio supporter, gave the organization $1 million. Brian Ballard, a Tallahassee lobbyist, gave $25,000 in November. Ballard was a top fundraiser for Jeb Bush but parted ways last year.

The group spent $16.5 million last year, according to campaign finance reports.
