Susannah Randolph wins nod from student progressives in CD 9 race

Susannah Randolph has received the endorsement of Students for a New America Politics organization in her Democratic race for Orlando-based Congressional District 9, her campaign says.

SNAP’s political action committee calls itself the nation’s largest and most effective student-run PAC. The organization typically contributes small amounts, three- and low four-figure amounts of cash, to campaigns of endorsed candidates. SNAP also states it provides two full-time field organizers to the campaign as well, and will do so with Randolph’s campaign this summer.

The endorsement continues the pattern of progressive-group endorsements for Randolph, while her primary opponent, state Sen. Darren Soto, has been garnering support from many mainstream Democratic groups and individuals.

Also in the race for CD 9, which leans strongly Democratic, are Dr. Dena Minning, former state Rep. Ricardo Rangel and Valleri Crabtree, seeking to replace Democratic U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson who is running for the U.S. Senate.

SNAP cited Randolph’s efforts in mobilizing and empowering women and families through her long career as a political activist and district organizer for Grayson.

“Her organizing experience will make her a leader in Congress,” said SNAP Executive Director Mila Rothstain.
