I am running -as you know- in a very important congressional district of FL, one that is considered a 50/50 battleground.
It has come to my attention that your newspaper has ignored me when describing the candidates of FL CD-18 ! Ironically, I was the first announcing the candidacy (April 13), just a few days after Murphy left the seat vacant. I have already “qualified” for the ballot, by petition method, which was completed in record time (finished on Aug. 15, 2015).
No question I am the one with lesser money in the campaign coffers, but that is the way it is when you abhor pandering, and avoid getting “strings attached”. Yet, I am the most active campaigning for name and face recognition, and that -and collecting petitions from thousands- will pay handsomely. Furthermore, I am a Physics Professor, Scientist and Environmentalist, and we have only 11 Scientist in the US Congress (out of its 535 members).
I am one of the remaining 3 Democratic candidates (Perkins, Chane and Xuna), and the only one who is an authentic Democratic Socialist, and as such ran in 2002 as well (FL-22). Understandably, I am a very strong supporter of Sen. Sanders, and I expect to be soon endorsed by him.
Candidate Chane not only sins as you described in your article of Jan.13 (indulging in foreclosures), worse, he is too strongly pro-Israel and might take us to war with Iran. Despite JACPAC and IAPAC support many in this area would be reluctant to vote for him. Candidate Perkins is another Trump, or Ross Perot, more interested in lowering corporate taxes and lobbying for his business than anything else.
