The Tampa Greater Chamber of Commerce has hired Cardenas Partners to lobby on legislative matters.

Al Cardenas, a former two-time chairman for the Republican Party of Florida, oversees the Government Affairs Practice at the firm. He’s also a senior partner with the Washington-based lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs.

In December, the Chamber listed their priorities for the 2016 Legislative Session. They included:

Supporting Governor Scott’s request for funding for Enterprise Florida, funding for the University of South Florida, Hillsborough Community College and “our local cultural institutions.”

The Chamber also said it supports the reduction in tax on commercial leases as well as legislation that will help integrate veterans into Florida’s workforce.
