Sarah Huckabee Sanders is joining Donald Trump’s campaign team.
If you think the name sounds familiar, you are probably right. Sanders is the daughter of Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and a two-time GOP presidential hopeful.
“I volunteered to join Mr. Trump’s campaign because he is a champion of working families; not Washington-Wall Street elite. Like the other Republican candidates, Mr. Trump is pro-life, pro-marriage and will appoint conservatives to the courts,” said Sanders in a statement released by the Trump campaign. “What makes Mr. Trump my choice for president is he will break the grip of the donor class on our government and make it accountable to working families again. I’m honored to help Mr. Trump Make America Great Again.”
Sanders will join the campaign as a senior adviser. The Arkansas native is no stranger to campaigns. She managed Huckabee’s 2016 presidential bid and served as the national political director on his 2008 presidential campaign.
Sanders also served as a senior adviser for Tom Cotton’s 2014 Senate run. In 2012, she served as a political adviser for Minnesota Republican Tim Pawlenty’s presidential campaign.
“I have great respect for Governor Mike Huckabee and we have mutual admiration for our wonderful families,” said Trump in a statement. “It is great to have his daughter, Sarah, join the campaign.”
Excited to help @realDonaldTrump break the grip of the donor class, empower working families, and make America great again.
