A review of City of Jacksonville internal documents reveals what the future of the Jax Journey looks like.
A “Funding Recommendations” two-page includes $1,780,074 in monies for 10 ZIP codes: 32202, 32205, 32206, 32208, 32209, 32210, 32211, 32218, 32244 and 32254.
A few of the recommendations will be of interest. A particularly progressive measure: $50,000 devoted to increasing ex-offender employment contracts for jobs $12.00 or higher.
Another interesting recommendation revolves around “Neighborhood Stabilization” and this includes residents of Eureka Gardens and assessments of other potential clients in Washington Heights and Cleveland Arms.
The cost for six months funding, 60 clients, and 100 assessments comes out to $127,000.
A third interesting recommendation involves earmarking 20 percent of Sheriff’s Office fines/forfeiture money for “small faith-based organizations.
It will be discussed in detail at the March 3 Oversight Committee meeting.
Monies will also be earmarked for child care and summer camp programs with “quality programming to reduce learning loss,” and an expansion of the city summer jobs program from 142 to 300 (at a cost of $227,791).
As well, $71,500 goes to NLP Logix, for continued analytics and data collection, which both are central to the Curry administration’s approach to Journey programs.
