Paul Renner receives NRA endorsement, "A" rating in HD 24 special election

candidate Paul Renner

Palm Coast Republican Paul Renner received the endorsement today from the National Rifle Association and Unified Sportsmen of Florida in the special GOP primary for Florida House District 24.

Renner, a Jacksonville native, moved to Flagler County after losing the GOP primary – by only two votes — in Jacksonville House District 15 in August. Renner seeks the seat vacated by Elkton Republican Rep. Travis Hutson, who is now running for Thrasher’s Senate District 6.

Former NRA president Marion Hammer, who serves as executive director of the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, said in a statement that they are backing Renner due to his “outstanding support of Second Amendment and self-defense issues combined with your solid pro-sportsmen, pro-freedom record have earned you our support and our endorsement.”

Hammer also announced that Renner earned an “A” rating from the NRA and United Sportsmen.

“If elected to House District 24,” Renner responded, “residents in our community can rest assured that I will fight to protect and preserve their constitutional right to defend themselves and their family.”

Renner, who currently works as an attorney and partner at Milam Howard Nicandri Dees and Gilla, faces Republicans Sheamus McNeeley, Ron Sanchez and Danielle Anderson in the primary set for Jan. 27. The winner will face Democrat Adam Morley on April 7.

District 24 includes Flagler County and parts of St. Johns and Volusia Counties.
