Email insights: Jeff Atwater offers Floridians different kind of Easter “hunt”

Easter treasure hunt (Large)

For those celebrating Easter Sunday, one of the great traditions for children (and more than a few adults) is the Easter Egg hunt.

As the faithful prepare with friends and family to celebrate a sunrise service or feast, a new email from Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater reminds Floridians of a different kind of “hunt”: treasure hunts available anytime.

“Our unclaimed property program offers an easy way to determine if we are holding funds in your name,” Atwater writes in his annual Easter greeting. “Join the hunt by checking out www.fltreasurehunt.org to see if the state is holding any unclaimed property in your name.”

Who needs jelly beans, chocolate and marshmallow bunnies when there is cold, hard cash hidden in the bottom of the state’s proverbial Easter basket?

No matter how one chooses to honor the season, Atwater says finding unclaimed property can be an unexpected holiday treat.

“Remembering this time of sacrifice is a chance to renew our hope and faith for those of us who celebrate,” he says. “Whichever way you celebrate Easter; I hope a sense of joy will surround you this weekend as you are surrounded by those important to you.”

Happy Easter to everyone!
