Budget meetings begin between Jax mayor, council members

money-shot balanced budget

Mayor Lenny Curry is going to have 19 versions of the same conversation in the coming days and weeks, as Council members ready budgetary requests.

Curry spokeswoman Marsha Oliver said it plainly: “It’s budget prep time. They are discussing the budget and the city’s financial future.”

Tuesday afternoon’s schedule for Curry tells the tale: Meetings abound, with Councilmen John CrescimbeniMatt SchellenbergSam Newby, and Garrett Dennis.

Curry has developed strong relationships with most Council members at this point. And those Council members look poised to attempt to leverage them in what will be another tight budget year.
