The Republican Party of Florida received a little help from its friends to help boost its fundraising numbers in the first three months of 2016.
State records show the Florida GOP raised more than $1.5 million in the first quarter of 2016. But as Matt Dixon with POLITICO Florida reported, that sum includes transfers from other Republican committees.
The Florida GOP received $110,000 from the Republican Party of Pennsylvania and $80,000 from the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee. Federal campaign finance records show the state party transferred $100,000 to the Republican Federal Committee of Pennsylvania and $80,000 to the Hillsborough County REC for federal races.
Other top donations during the first quarter included $105,000 from Florida Blue-Blue Cross Blue Shield; $95,000 from Let’s Get to Work, the political committee backing Gov. Rick Scott; and $75,000 each from American Traffic Solutions, Inc. and Duke Energy.
The state party also received $50,000 from Disney Worldwide Services and JM Family Enterprises; and $30,000 from Humana Inc. and MCNA Health Care Holdings, LLC.
The Florida GOP spent more than $1.3 million during the three-month period. Included in that sum is more than $62,000 for audio and visual equipment; more than $56,000 for polling; and nearly $30,000 for meals.
