People who know Ronnie Fussell, the former Jacksonville City Council president and current clerk of courts, love him. His Jacksonville roots run deep. And his list of political supporters is like a Who’s Who of #jaxpol.
Fussell gained global publicity for Jacksonville when he halted the Duval County Courthouse’s 150-year tradition of courthouse wedding ceremonies just before the beginning of 2015, so his office wouldn’t have to perform same-sex marriages.
Those who object to that will have two opportunities to register their displeasure at a polling place this year.
The August primary sees Fussell up against fellow Republican Mike Riley, who filed to run this week.
Riley has no experience in elected office, and faces an uphill battle against Fussell, who already has $60,000 banked, via contributions from people ranging from Mike Hightower and Paul Harden to Susie Wiles and Tony Boselli.
There is a Democrat in the race also: Paula Bartlett.
She has collected one donation of $100 thus far, from a gentleman named Samuel Bartlett.

What an unbiased article, I wonder who Mr. Gancarski prefers in the race? So much for objective reporting.
