House District 47 Democratic candidate Beth Tuura has grabbed the backing of one of the more influential area Democrats, Bob Poe, who has his own campaign for Congress.
Tuura announced that Poe, a former Florida Democratic Party chair who also has been a force in Central Florida and Florida progressive and LGBT politics, is backing her in the three-way Democratic primary fight for the Orlando-based Florida House seat.
Tuura, Henry Lim and Clinton Curtis all seek to challenge Republican incumbent state Rep. Mike Miller of Orlando.
“I am proud to endorse Beth Tuura because she has proven that she has the spirit and leadership that Orange County needs in the Legislature,” Poe stated in a news release issued by Tuura’s campaign. “She is a true progressive who knows the struggles of her constituents when it comes to access to health care, a quality public education, and equal protection under the law. I have no doubt that she will act as a strong voice for the people of District 47 and will be an effective force in Tallahassee.”
