June 13 will see Jacksonville’s political elite assembled at the home of Peter Rummell and Lee Ann Rummell for what is being called a “Rutherford Founders’ Roundup” fundraiser.
Speaking on behalf of Rutherford is “special guest” Lenny Curry.
The Jacksonville mayor was an early supporter of Rutherford’s candidacy for the 4th District Congressional seat. Rutherford’s support was instrumental in Curry’s own run.
The finance committee is equally high powered, including Ed Burr, chairman of the Jacksonville Civic Council, as well as real estate developer Jay Demetree, former Duval GOP chair John Falconetti, and Kent Stermon, as well as each man’s wife.
And the host committee is equally legit: former Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton, Mike Hightower, Michael Munz, and Husein Cumber are among the names included.
All four men have demonstrated major fundraising prowess in the past, with Munz doing as much as anyone to elevate Curry to the mayor’s office, and Hightower and Cumber being major fundraisers for former President George W. Bush.
The VIP Founders’ reception begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Rummell home; a $10,800 “raise- or-write” per couple secures entry and a photo opportunity with Rutherford.
For those supporters on a tighter budget, the Rutherford Posse Reception starts at 6 p.m., and is $2,700 per person.
