Hialeah Republican Rep. Manny Diaz announced Monday his campaign brought in $26,775 last month for a total of $243,475 raised for his House District 103 re-election campaign.
“Our campaign is in high gear, and we are really grateful to the folks who are investing in our conservative message and values,” Diaz said. “We will continue to work hard to connect with every voter so that we can keep working for lower taxes, better education, and more freedom across our district and the whole state.”
Diaz’s campaign didn’t release the whole May report, so it is unknown how much the second-term representative has on hand. At the end of April, Diaz had raised $216,700 and spent $64,210, leaving him with $152,490 in his campaign account.
Currently, Diaz’s only opposition is Coral Gables Democrat Ivette Petkovich, who filed for the seat in mid-October.
Petkovich has not previewed her May fundraising numbers, though through seven months in the race the South Florida attorney had raised $41,341 and spent $8,877, leaving her with $32,464 on hand at the end of April.
HD 103 is competitive in voter registrations, though Diaz hasn’t faced much of a challenge defending the seat. In 2012, he faced no major-party opponent on Election Day, and in 2014 he skated by Democrat Benjamin De Yurre with 58 percent of the vote.
