In the battle for the Senate District 19, encompassing Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, Ed Narain received some big endorsements Monday.
Tampa Bay area Congresswoman Kathy Castor endorsed his candidacy, as did the man she succeeded in Congress, Jim Davis. Tampa City Council Chairman Mike Suarez is also backing Narain.
“As a state representative, Ed has been a great partner as we worked to bring more jobs, higher wages and economic opportunity to east Tampa,” said Castor. “As a member of the Florida House, Ed has also worked to bring much-needed state dollars back to east Tampa to compliment federal investments and have an impact all their own. As a member of the State Senate, I am confident he will continue to be an effective partner as we fight to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors across Tampa Bay.”
The endorsements took place at the 5508 Co-Working & Collaboration Exchange in Tampa on Monday night, where Narain opened his campaign office.
“For most of my life, I’ve been a community volunteer and a businessman, so I’m still new to politics,” said Narain. “But what isn’t new to me is getting our communities, our businesses and our families working together for a better Tampa Bay, and that’s what this campaign is about. I’m humbled to know that experienced leaders like Congresswoman Castor and Congressman Davis, along with so many other local officials and community supporters, are joining me in this effort to forge a new way forward in Tallahassee.”
Narain, currently serving in state House District 59, is running against former state Rep. Betty Reed and HD 70 state Rep. Darryl Rouson, who unveiled his own impressive slate of endorsements from Pinellas County Democrats on Monday.
