The Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida has thrown its support behind Matt Hudson.
The organization announced it was endorsing the Naples Republican in his Senate District 28 bid. In a statement Thursday, Bob White, chairman of RLC Florida, said Hudson has been “an outstanding leader in the Florida House of Representatives” and is the “superior choice” in Senate District 28.
“For 25 years the Republican Liberty Caucus has been a strong voice for the principles of limited government, free enterprise and individual liberty. We believe that less government means more liberty and we work through local chapters and with our member activists all over the country to oppose government excess and demand accountability to the people and the Constitution,” said White in a statement. “Matt Hudson has been an outstanding leader in the Florida House of Representatives. He has championed these same principles and values and we are convinced that he is the superior choice for the Florida Senate in District 28”.
White continued by saying the organization is “proud to stand with him in his race for the Florida Senate.”
Hudson faces Kathleen Passidomo, also a Naples Republican and state representative, in the race to replace Sen. Garrett Richter in the Florida Senate.
Hudson, who can’t run for re-election again because of term limits, said he was honored to be recognized for his work in the Florida Legislature.
“The Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida has made a difference year after year in Tallahassee,” said Hudson. “I look forward to continuing our working relationship as a member of the Florida Senate.”
The Republican primary is Aug. 30.
