Hans Tanzler trades in cowboy hat for hard hat in third ad

Tanzler

Hans Tanzler, in the third ad of his campaign for the GOP nomination in Florida’s 4th Congressional District, traded in his cowboy hat for a hard hat.

The ad — called “Jobs” — takes Tanzler away from his ranch near Gainesville, where his first two ads were filmed, to a factory setting, where the men look purposeful and blue collar and the candidate matches.

The message of the ad: a “few suggestions” about “creating jobs” from Tanzler, who has been involved in six corporate turnarounds, according to the graphics.

Those suggestions?

Cut taxes. Stop over-regulating. And no more bad trade deals.

Tanzler, according to sources familiar with his thinking, saw his first two ads as ways to raise name identification.

Running second in the most-recent University of North Florida poll, Tanzler and his team clearly believe that’s been accomplished.

The message in this spot has pivoted, it seems, to economic determinism, combined with getting Washington out of the way of businesses.

Expect Tanzler to move toward more of a resume-driven pitch in future ads.
