Laborers’ union weighs in for Kamia Brown, Henry Lim in hotly-contested HD 45 and HD 47 races

Kamia Brown and Henry Lim

The Laborers International Union of North America has endorsed two Democrats battling in hotly-contested Orlando primaries, endorsing Kamia Brown in House District 45 and Henry Lim in House District 47.

The union represents construction and energy workers and public employees.

“Our members are committed to be part of the solution when it comes to growing the economy and delivering jobs – and Kamia Brown and Henry Lim will be forceful voices in Tallahassee,” Dave Brier, business manager of LiUNA Local 517 stated in a news release issued by the union. “Our members are proud to endorse their campaigns as they work to bring needed change to the Florida Legislature.”

Brown faces four other Democrats in a winner-take-all Aug. 30 election, including Kelvin Cobaris, Greg Jackson, William Jusme and Peter Pham.

“I’m thankful to have the support of LiUNA Local 517,” Brown stated in the release. “I will make sure that working families have a seat at the table every day and be represented in the halls of our state capital.”

Lim faces Clinton Curtis and Elizabeth Turra in an Aug. 30 Democratic primary. The winner will take on incumbent Republican state Rep. Mike Miller of Orlando.

“I am honored to have LiUNA Local 517 stand with me in my campaign for state representative,” Lim stated. “I will never back down from any fight that puts working families ahead of the special interests.”
